The Care Collective

Carers Week 2022

Carers Week is an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring, highlighting the challenges unpaid carers face and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities throughout the UK. It also helps people who don’t think of themselves as having caring responsibilities to identify as carers and access much-needed support.

This year, Carers Week runs between 6 – 12 June and you can read more about it at the Carers Week website.  You can also sign up as an individual to support Carers Week online too.

Around 6.5 million people in the UK are carers, looking after a parent, partner, child or friend. A carer is someone who provides unpaid care and support to a family member or friend who has a disability, illness, mental health problem or who needs extra help as they grow older.

The Care Collective has been championing and working with unpaid carers for over 30. We are now, one of the largest charities in Wales, with around 170 colleagues, and we currently work across ten local authority areas in South Wales. Our catchment areas account for almost 50% of the total number of unpaid carers in the whole of Wales.

The campaign is brought to life by thousands of individuals and organisations who come together to provide support for carers, run activities, highlight the vital role carers play in our communities and draw attention to just how important caring is.

During this important week, The Care Collective will be all around South Wales and please feel free to come along and join us.
